Georges de La Tour was born in Vic-sur-Seille, Metz. His St. John the Baptist in the Desert is a central piece and around it runs the theme of French painting from the 17th century to the start of the 20th. Names such as Le Brun, Blanchard, Stella, Valenciennes, Corot, Laurens, Baudry and many others are represented in this museum collection that also illustrates the rich political, artistic and historical past of this region.
