club vosgien

CIRCUIT N ° 4: Around the Tête des Champs (Municipality of Le Ménil) Duration: about 1 hour Difficulty: easy (family walk with children) Distance: 3 kilometers Elevation gain: 153 meters Marking: blue easel, a short unmarked portion on a small mountain road Places of tourist interest: orientation table at the top of the Tête des Champs (997 meters), La Salette chapel isolated in the middle of pastures from which you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Granges valley and the village of Ménil. Start: Col de la Passe du Sècheneux car park. Access: Coming from Le Thillot, take the departmental road 486 towards La Bresse. Cross the village of Ménil. Just before the top of Col du Ménil, take the last road on the right towards "orientation table, Tête des Champs". It leads after 3 kilometers of climb to the Passe du Sècheneux, a pass located upstream from the Ferme du Frénat du Haut. Description of the route: From the car park, turn left onto the marked blue easel path towards “Tête des Champs”. At the top there is a vast panorama, all enhanced by an orientation table at an altitude of almost a thousand meters, between stubble and rocks with original shapes. The place is often rocked by the bleating of the sheep which graze peacefully on these heights. Then descend the charming path which undulates through the pastures towards the Chapelle de la Salette, which can be seen below on its rocky promontory. The place offers a nice view of the surroundings. This chapel is so small that you cannot enter it, but it contains 3 statuettes of Our Lady of La Salette, Sainte-Sabine and Sainte-Claire. Take a good look under the chapel, there is a small cave! Convenient for shelter in case of rain or wind ... The path descends again before turning off to the right and joining the tarmac road. Follow the road on the right in the direction of the rise, passing by the farm of Frénat du Haut. This portion of the walk offers beautiful escapes to the North, towards the Moselotte valley. After the farm, there are 300 meters to go to reach the starting point.
