Sarreguemines,
the art of renewal

How about a getaway in the heart of Europe, at the confluence of the Saar and Blies Rivers and at the crossroads of eras and cultures?
The borders are gone, the flames of industry put out. Today, Sarreguemines cultivates its extraordinary and rich legacy inherited throughout the centuries: hydrotherapy, Gallo-Roman relics and, more recently, the industrial saga of faience earthenware. Take a pleasant ride along the waters of the canals, by boat or by bike, for a travelling discovery of this decidedly surprising land.

Moulin de la Blies

Moulin de la Blies, all the magic of faience

Housed in the former earthenware manufactory, this museum dedicated to the techniques of faience-making sheds light on the impressive industry that employed 3,000 people at the beginning of the 20th century. The brownfields around the Blies mill have been converted into an extraordinary garden, the Faience Makers’ Garden. From industrial memories to a poem of green.

Faience Museum and Winter Garden

1790: a handful of men embark upon faience manufacturing and make Sarreguemines the capital of this precious craft. An epic story that is told at the Faience Museum, housed in the residence of Paul de Geiger, director of the manufactory from 1871 to 1913. The decoration is organically inspired and plants are omnipresent. Their influence lead to the creation of the splendid Winter Garden. Elegance and the upmost refinement.
