Located on the hillside overlooking the village of Domremy, the Bois Chenu basilica church is a national monument expressing the country's gratitude to Joan of Arc. The building's foundation stone was laid on 3 November 1881 in the immediate vicinity of the spot where Joan is said to have heard voices. Architect Paul Sédille was commissioned to build the church. Set high above the River Meuse, the basilica is a "must" for any visitors interested in the story of Joan of Arc.
