Place d'Armes - J-F Blondel 57000 METZ
Built from 1761 to 1771, the place d'Armes is a large rectangular paved square, 125 metres long and 50 metres wide. The buildings surrounding the square symbolised the different powers: to complement the cathedral which symbolised the religious power, Blondel erected the Hôtel de Ville representing the municipal authority, the guard house (now the Tourist Office) representing the military power and the Parliament representing the judicial power.
