Deneuvre is very near to the town of Baccarat and was an important temple dedicated to the god Hercules by the Gallo-Romans. A 12 year archeological dig has brought to light about a hundred statues, stone basins and plenty of smaller objects. The reconstructed sanctuary of 400 m² dedicated to Hercules is resplendent with original statuary representing pilgrims offering gifts to this god from Roman Gaul’s ancient civilization.
