at Baerenthal (57) The reservoir dominates the view as you enter the Zinsel Valley. Eighteen hectares of water that once supplied the power for the smithies of Baerenthal. Today, the reservoir is bordered by luxuriant vegetation and home to many sedentary bird species. It’s also a stop off for migrating species on their long journeys across the continent. A bird-watching hide allows visitors to observe discreetly mallard, kingfisher, crested grebe, grey heron and many other species.
