Wildlife

Lorraine is a sanctuary where plant and animal life take on an extra dimension.
Be charmed by the chamois playing in the steep slopes of the Vosges.

Another legendary species, the lynx was also reintroduced to roam the landscape.
And there’s the capercaillie, a leftover from the ice age which is now a protected species.

The natural environment of forests and ponds teems with hundreds of species to form a vast ecocomplex, perfect for top-quality fishing and hunting.

The Conservatoire des Sites Lorrains can provide information on over forty sites with visitor amenities and help you to find out about Lorraine’s natural heritage through educational field trips, special events and exhibitions throughout the region.
