To instil you with a sense of the richness of the nearby architecture in the heart of the ducal town, 18th-century Nancy reveals its true splendour here. It’s quiet, delightful and, best of all, full of the comfort and elegance of an aristocratic residence. The wrought-iron banisters inspired by Jean Lamour flank a monumental staircase. The courtyard has an area for smokers. The breakfast room, with its large fireplace, Lorraine furniture, stone flags and beams, provides the setting for top-quality service – the sugar and French toasts are served in glass paste dishes made by the Nancy School.
Each of the 48 bedrooms has its own features. Shower or bath, view of the courtyard or the street, one or two beds, double or singles, there’s plenty of choice but early booking is advised. There is one room with disabled access. As to the furniture and decoration, they carry with them the scent of history, as do the names of the junior suites e.g. Charles II, François I and Henri I de Guise. The hotel has glass paste items for sale, in the style of the Nancy School.
