NIGHTS OF MYSTERY IN AN 18TH-CENTURY ABBEY

The Premonstratensians’ Abbey, an 18th-century listed building, is the finest example of monastic architecture in Lorraine. It stands proudly on the banks of the Moselle, in the heart of a 2.5 hectare park. Ideally located in the centre of Lorraine halfway between Metz and Nancy, it enables visitors to discover the many treasures the region has to offer. Its Level 3 “Privilege” rooms overlook the park or the “Fragrance Garden” in the cloister. They combine comfort and contemporary lifestyle in exceptionally beautiful, tranquil surroundings. During your stay, you’ll get a glimpse of the monastic atmosphere in this magnificent abbey built to designs by architects Thomas Mordillac and Nicolas Pierson. You can almost feel the imperceptible presence of the Premonstratensian canons in their white habits, members of an order founded in the 12th century by St. Norbert which occupied the abbey until 1792. The Premonstratensians’ Abbey is a regional arts centre and, throughout the year, it hosts exhibitions and special events to which hotel guests are admitted free of charge (see the programme on the website).
