Holiday from 195 €
Since 1935, this traditional hotel has been run by a succession of three generations of the family who originally built it. Set in the depths of the forest a stone’s throw from Phalsbourg and the Haspel Valley, it emphasises well-being and nature. There is a terrace under magnificent lime trees, a piano lounge (Patricia Gilgert-Knopf who runs the hotel is only too happy to play it), a bar and an unusual showcase of the world’s whiskies, not forgetting the indoor swimming pool and sauna. As an optional extra (booking required), you can try Alsatian resculpting with essential oils of Northern Vosges pines! The 33 bedrooms, 4 of them communicating, make this ideal for family holidays. Some of them, with balconies, look out onto the rolling hills of Vosges and its lush environment. And it is this same environment that you can enjoy by walking or mountain biking, with picnic and hiking maps supplied. The breakfast includes Kouglof, home-made jam and madeleines from Commercy. As an optional extra, you can also take a sightseeing flight over the region in a twin-engined plane.
Cuisine
Isabelle, who is in charge of the kitchen, makes extensive use of products from Lorraine and Alsace. Duck Breast with Mirabelle Plums is popular here, as is foie gras which has its own festival in Phalsbourg in December and a special offer at the hotel. In spring, try the “Flower Menu”!
