Located in Raon l’Etape in the heart of the sandstone Vosges, on an island soothed by the surrounding Plain, the egg-shaped “pods” in the Museumotel are just waiting to reveal their futurist secrets to guests. There is an apparent paradox in the work of Swiss architect, Pascal Haüsermann, who designed them in the 1960s. Yet the utopian feeling has lasted thanks to Laurent Méthot, an artist from Franche-Comté, and his friends. Fan-shaped bays, glass fibre doors and an interior that is equally unusual: painted furniture, mosaic tiling, a light and bright ambiance and unusual decorative features. Everything here has been done by artists.
During your stay, you can choose between large or small “pods” with shower and toilet, sleeping 2 or 5 people, with the evocative names of Zen, Pop Art, Star, Fifties and Chlorophyll – with decoration to match. This is a journey into the world of design, where living heritage exists side by side with the Arts. The bar, the “Utopia”, like the room open to expressions of creativity, confirms the unusual features of a break on a peninsula that is as enchanted as it is imaginative
