Epinal American Cemetery, one of France’s 5 commemorative military cemeterie
A few kilometres from the town, in Dinozé, a place steeped in history bears witness to a dark past. Epinal American Cemetery is an ode to the tragedies brought about by the Second World War. The bodies of 5,253 American soldiers are buried here, resting peacefully in a meticulously maintained cemetery.
The Memorial, which comprises a chapel and a museum, provides a map of American and Allied operations from the landings in Southern France on 15 August 1944 to the Rhine crossing and invasion of Germany.
